• Hi all, I’d like to update my website. As I’m going to change a lot (structure, content, etc) I’d like to copy the current Website and work on this copy to try and test how it looks and works.
Can you do that and how? Where would I find a solution?
    Thanks,

    Maria

  • Hey @mariamani
I recommend exporting your website and uploading the zip file into the newest WordPress Playground. To export your site, use the Tools menu on the Admin, then Export > All content.
Playground lets you run a WordPress instance directly from your web browser without messing around with a server —?no need to install PHP, MySQL, or Apache.
I hope this helps you solve your problem and helps you to build a great new site.

Thank you, Henrique! Yes, definitely very helpful.
Do you know wheter I can overwrite the old WP website simply with the Playground Version, as soon as I am finished?

Does the fact that I use WP Bakery for my old website play any role? I assume, WP bakery will be also available on the Playground?

    Thank you!

other options I have used to create a duplicate site and make a bunch of changes to redesign/reformat sites:

-ask your webhosting plan if they have provide a staging site or development area in your current webhosting account.

-use a plugin like BlogVault.net (not a free service) but I find it easy to use for creating test sites and then moving the test site back to the real site

-download the application localwp.com (free) onto your computer and then import your site into localwp.com to make the changes desired. (you might also need the free plugin “all in one migration”)

These are great suggestions, thanks a lot, Lisa! I’m gonna try it with the localwp.com app. Thanks!

Yes @mariamani, you can always use plugins on the Playground and export your work. Check this video for more about it. Thanks!
