new website – old blog in different database – connect them?

We just have put up a new website using the twenty eleven theme with pages but no blog. We have an old blog in a different database on the same server.

It is possible to connect to the old blog and have that content show in a section of the new website, isn’t it?

I’ve tried searching the support/help files but can’t seem to find any info – I don’t think I know the terms to use.
