The new update to the plugin crashed my website. So, I deleted and re-installed the plugin, but it will not activate.

    This fatal error appears …

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/content/92/8416892/html/new/wp-content/plugins/staff-directory/classes/staff-directory-shortcode.php on line 91

  • I am getting this same error when trying to activate.

    I’m getting this as well.

Me too, anyone determine a fix yet?

Because I needed to get this going a site in our school district right away I switched to the plugin called Simple Staff List by Brett Shumaker.

It appears to be very similar in structure to Staff Directory. One added bonus is you can sort visually from a separate dashboard setting area. It’s a bit weird to get used to (particularly if you have departments you like to keep separate) but does work. I did have to build grid layout CSS based on what I had been using with Staff Directory.

I’m not sure why the author has not replied, I also tried contacting him directly.

How do I fix this error? I just updated the plugin and it broke my entire WordPress site.

Anyone know how to rollback the plugin and/or fix my site? I will have to do this in CLI, since no GUI part of the site is working. Do I just edit out the section the error refers to around line 91?
