New version broke customizer…

I just updated to the new version and now the customizer is not working for specific sites of mine now… It works on some others in the network but its pretty random.

Have you check the log files to see what is causing your issue?

What is the difference between the sites that work and the sites that don’t work?

Not to sure about what the issue is… I am not advanced enough to write to or fix plugins…

I luckily had an old 3.7.3 version on another server and had not noticed any problems on there… I downgraded my new sites to that and everything works perfectly now…

So something between 3.7.3 and 3.7.5 broke the customizer for certain themes but not others… Some loaded fine while others just kept constantly refreshing…

sorry meant 3.7.6 and I am running 3.7.3 which is working…

I was working on one of the sites in my network (i barely ever use the customizer) but I needed that to change someone and when I went in there it just kept refreshing and refreshing… I searched around online for some solutions and most people said to make a new folder in my wp-content folder called bad plugins and move all my plugins to there…

Then I checked to see if the problem had gone away… luckily it had… So i started to add the plugins back one by one until the problem began again… in the end the only plug-in left in the bad plugins folder was the all in one security and the site was functioning perfectly… So I went back to my old server and grabbed the older version and thats how I knew that would work… because it had before… so the bug is somewhere in there…

Okay we are on track to find out what the problem is. Have you tried to update the plugin to version 3.7.5?

If 3.7.5 works for you then we know that the latest 3.7.6 is causing the problem with your theme.

I noticed the problem in 3.7.5 and then upgraded to 3.7.6 for a hope for the fix but problem was still there… was not able to check 3.7.4…

What are your settings? There might be just one of the settings that is causing this issue. Another words the plugin will still protect your site but you won’t be able to enable one or a few of the advance settings. That can be due to the fact that your current theme is not implementing the code correctly for that function.

What I suggest is to install the latest version 3.7.6 and only enable the basic settings and test to see if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then start enabling one by one the advance settings but remember to make sure you have a current backup just in case something goes wrong.

Sorry thats to much work right now… I will just use the old version until there is a fix… I am just reporting it… It really freaked me out cause i don’t have a testing server and this happened on my soon to be production server so I don’t want to take any chances…

Maybe in a few days I will start to build a testing server and see if I can’t figure it out there and report back… Thanks
