    Hey,
    i was using rich reviews for a long time. Since v1.8 i am facing some issues. We had many reviews ( 300 ) and now all of a sudden the page loads forever and says “a script is taking extremly long to load” + i can not access the settings page “user has no permission to view the admin page” but i am the admin ? Weird stuff

    @siparker could you message us with this info here: https://starfish.reviews/contact/ ? You’re reporting some stuff nobody else is, and we’d like to take a deeper look, with your help.

    @motowner yeah, since we re-built the entire options interface, some options have to be set again after the update.

    @clemenspoppe have you updated to 1.8.1? That update is supposed to delete the rr_options entry from wp_options table in the database. That should fix the permissions issue.

    For the slow load issue, would you contact us here: https://starfish.reviews/contact/ so we can dig into this further with you?

    Generally we want to keep support for Rich Reviews here on the WP.org forums, but we’re unable to reproduce some of these issues, so we need additional (possibly sensitive) information to figure out what’s going on.

    Hi all! Version 1.8.2 is now available via automatic update. We believe this fixes all known issues with Rich Reviews.

    Please start a new topic to report any new issues. Thanks!

    Hello, I have encountered the same problem I tried activating and deactivating the plugin many times. Then I tried and tested with different shortcodes. I have now understood where this problem is happening.

    When I pasted the [Rich Reviews Show num=”5″] shortcode. The page was loading fine.

    Then I tried [Rich Reviews Show num=”8″], also then the page was loading fine.

    Then I used [Rich Reviews Show num=”9″] , and this is where all the problems started.

    Then I used [Rich Reviews Show num=”all”] and the Page took forever to load (even in Localhost).

    The problem is that the Plugin is having problems loading scripts of more than 8 Reviews on a Page.

    Please Fix this ASAP, there are daily visitors on my site and I don’t want them to see a problematic Testimonials Page.

    Hi @sarielreigns777 can you confirm you’re using version 1.8.2 and still seeing this? We fixed an issue that sounds very similar to this, in that release.

    If it’s still occurring for you after updating, can you contact us: https://starfish.reviews/contact/ so we can get additional details. Thanks.

    Hi Tevya,

    Don’t know if this is related to the topic but upgrading from ‘old’ RR vers 1.7.3 to ‘new-team’ vers 1.8.2 leads to a fatal error.
    The RR plugin cannot be activated and the following message appears in the WP dash board :

    L’extension n’a pas pu être activée, car elle a déclenché une erreur fatale.
    (The plugin could not be activated as it triggered a fatal error)
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyPHP-5.3.8.1\www\wp-content\plugins\rich-reviews\lib\rich-reviews-options.php on line 57

    Is there any trick to avoid this fatal error and duly activate the new plugin ?

    Thanks

    @paloprisk, it looks like you may be running an old version of WordPress and PHP. Can you please confirm these versions for us. Rich Reviews requires at least PHP 5.6 and WordPress Version 4.5 – This is a fatal error regarding the registration of the new options

    @matt,
    Got it, will try that and let everyone know.
    Thanks.

    @matt,
    RR now works great with latest php 7.2.14 and wp 5.2.3 !
    only foreign language localization is missing … I could help in French if needed, don’t hesitate to ask.
    thanks again.

    That’s great! Glad that worked. Just FYI: WordPress’ current minimum for PHP is technically 5.6. So any sites using anything below that should update their PHP.

    If you’d like to provide a French translation, we’d be happy to include it in the next version.

    @tevya,
    No problem, just tell me how I should “technically” proceed to doing that?
    I will be more than happy to help.

    @tevya
    regarding the translation, is there any particular file to edit & translate within the plugin folder or are the terms to translate hard coded ?
