    Hey,
i was using rich reviews for a long time. Since v1.8 i am facing some issues. We had many reviews ( 300 ) and now all of a sudden the page loads forever and says “a script is taking extremly long to load” + i can not access the settings page “user has no permission to view the admin page” but i am the admin ? Weird stuff

  • @thefiddler No, thank you. Good point.

Quick update: we’ve been able to reproduce it finally. Thanks @greendragontech for that copy of the plugin. I was able to install it and change some settings, add some reviews, then update to 1.8 and see this.

So we know 1.8 works fine, but for some reason not when updating from 1.7.3 (and probably other versions). We’ll get to the bottom of it and push out an update soon. Thanks!

BTW: no need to provide us access to your site now. We can work on this test site.

Yes! @silvercolt45 @thefiddler This seems to have resolved the issue. Good job, guys.

I am able to access the admin options. However on the frontend the page keeps loading forever still with the latest version.

@recentall all pages? Or just ones with a Rich Reviews shortcode?

@thefiddler Thanks for your response. Only on the pages with the Rich Reviews shortcode ( on the frontend )

What version of WP and PHP are you running on this site?

    @thefiddler
I’m sorry, such a rookie mistake. Its running on WordPress 5.2.3 and on PHP 7.2

No worries. Thanks. Okay, let us do more testing and see if we can reproduce this.

    Thanks for the effort!

FYI i have several issues but fixed the above one by deactivating and then completely removing the plugin.

i then manually deleted the rr_ entries from the wp_options table and then reinstalled.

this fixed the issue of the front end hanging.

However i now cannot add any reviews in the back end. every one says “The link you followed has expired.” when i try to save it.

a second issue was the rr_options entry was still in the db in another case.

Third issue is on a seperate site if i try to load the approved reviews page in admin it hangs forever.

Hope a small patch will fix these.

All sites are on latest version of WP and php 7.3

    updated within the last day.

I have a second site which i cannot load the approved reviews in the backend.

I think it might be a js issue as the stall of the loading happens halfway through all of the other js scripts loading.

UPDATE: now confirmed as happening on every site i am trying to fix. I have retried with all other plugins turned off.
Trying to access the /wp-admin/admin.php?page=fp_admin_approved_reviews_page results in a hang.

@thefiddler – Thanks for the quick updates! Everything’s looking good and working well now. I did have to re-select some options previously selected in the Display tab, though. Not sure if the deselection occurred with the previous update or not. Also had to go in and redo some CSS for the review display changes I made long ago (tweaked the drop cap quotes). Submit button text was reset back to ‘Submit’, too, from what I had but that’s OK. I added ‘click once’ but now that’s not needed since it now goes quickly to a ‘thank you’ page (awesome! I don’t remember it doing that before).
