    Hey,
i was using rich reviews for a long time. Since v1.8 i am facing some issues. We had many reviews ( 300 ) and now all of a sudden the page loads forever and says “a script is taking extremly long to load” + i can not access the settings page “user has no permission to view the admin page” but i am the admin ? Weird stuff

  • Hey,
first of all, thank you for updating the plugin and for correcting the security flaws. However, I cannot access the plugin settings. Error message: sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

The dashboard admin function is missing in v1.8

Hey all, thanks for reporting this. We’re investigating. Will keep you posted.

@luxuryrealtygroup can you please provide more information as to what you are expecting with regards to the “dashboard admin function”. The Options tab under Instructions now opens a new Options sub-menu under the Rich Reviews Administration. Under this Options page there are 5 tabs (Admin, Form, Display, User, and Markup). Do you not see this Options page?

@passion167 and @clemenspoppe the Options page requires the user to have “manage_options” permission. Can you please verify the user attempting to access it has this permission? Thank you!

@passion167, @clemenspoppe, and @luxuryrealtygroup can you please update to the following copy of the plugin and let me know if this resolves any of your issues with accessing the Options page?

    Patch Update

If so, I will push this update out officially as v1.8.1

@silvercolt45 I have updated the plugin and tried the patch update.

Both versions break my review page.

Can you let me know once the update has been fixed?

It seems that it has an error in accessing the plugin admin.

Same problem here. I do not see Rich Reviews in the admin panel and I cannot access the settings page due to missing permissions.

But the shortcode [RICH_REVIEWS_SHOW] is working fine, although it is now showing stars together with the review which I do not want. But I assume that this can be changed via the settings.

    Hey,

Always the same concern. No access to the plugin settings, access denied.

    Cordially.

Thank you, everyone, for your feedback. Could any of you provide me admin credentials to your affected site? I need to see what exactly is happening in these scenarios. I don’t experience this myself so I am having a hard time finding what may be causing it. Thank you and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Same issue – no admin. Running WP 4.9.11 and do not wish to update to version 5.x. Hoping to be notified of a fix soon. Thanks for maintaining this!

Ditto. The main links went away on the back end. When I click on Settings from the back-end, (/wp-admin/admin.php?page=rich_reviews_settings_main), I then get a permissions issue: “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” I tried chatting on your site, but your bot disconnected me. I was able to restore the old version of the plugin from a nightly backup.

    Running WP v5.2.3 PHP 7.0.33

If anybody wants it, you can download the old Version 1.7.3 here.

@greendragontech after restoring the old version did you deactivate the plugin? Just want to make sure your site is secure. Old version leaves you open.
