Yesterday I updated my version of WP on a blog I manage. I have not been having any issues due to updates until now. I have not installed any other new plugins that day. I noticed that after I updated WP, I was not getting any new user email notifications. So I did a test and this is the message I received: Fatal error: Call to undefined function tidy_clear_repair() in /home/teamflan/public_html/wp-content/plugins/extended-profile/extended-profile.php on line 155

When I went back into the backend, it showed the new user I created, however it did not send an email to the new user (me – that is using a test email I keep for these occasions). I am presuming Extend Profile may not be compatible with the new version of WP – is anyone else having problems? And, of course, how do I fix it?

  • FTP into your site (or use whatever file management application your host provides) and delete the wp-content/plugins/extended-profile folder.

Of course what all this means is that extended profile plugin – which I was using to create user pages is no longer compatible with the new version of word press. I figured that out right away. I was just hoping that there was a fix I could do to the php code in extended-profile to keep it functioning… but alas I could not figure out a way to do that.
I just created my own “extended profile” form that will paste right into the profile pages I create. Just a hassle to set up – that plugin really was useful. Oh well. Its all fixed now.
The answer for anyone else who has this problem is indeed to delete extended profile and find another way to expand your user profile pages.
