• Is there a way when a new user registers, for them to request a certain role? Such as a contributor. I have certain users who are business owners that I want to allow them to post on my site.

That would be a significant security risk. Imagine some random person deciding they wanted to be an Administrator, I wouldn’t recommend it. ??

If you know who you want to allow to be what role, just add them yourself via Users -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard. It gives you full control, you can assign the role when you add them, and you can close public registration.

I understand that. I don’t mean where someone could pick their own role, I was looking for an easy way for them to request a role of author, and then I could change their role if I approve.

Ah, I don’t really think there is a direct way to do that, and a quick search of the plugins didn’t bring anything up either.

Maybe just make sure that it’s easy for them to contact you.

OK, that’s what I thought. Thank you for your help.

We have added this feature for a few of our clients. We used the Register Plus Redux plugin to add field/s to the WP registration.

Here is and example of how we used this plugin: https://www.pioneerpet.com/wp-login.php?action=register

    Hope this helps.
