New user registrations approval by other roles or user than admin?
-
Hi,
I’ve setup the new user registrations approval feature.
Now I would like to delegate the approval to editors or specific members.
Problem, by default Ultimate Member seems to allow only Admins to approve new registrations. This is a real issue as:
1/ real admin(s) may not have the time to do that and want to delegate this task to more people if there’s a lot of accounts to approve
2/ upgrading members to the Admin role just to allow them to approve users is really risky.
They would suddenly have access to ALL the website administration, they could break everything, the general settings, the theme, the plugins, even kick-off the main admin, etc.So is there a way to solve this issue properly with Ultimate Member?
I found out that by adding “User Role Editor” I can already give Editors or specific members the right to list_users and edit_users (and even promote or remove).
This is a good start. It already allows those persons to approve users via the user list. But it’s far from perfect. Among other:
– it requires to add another plugin just for this feature
– those persons are still not notified by email that an account is pending approval
– those persons sill don’t have access to the Ultimate Member “Info” pop-up in the user list that provides all the specific information a user has fill-in to register
– those persons sill don’t have access to the Ultimate Member full approval/denial menus on the account profile formI think giving the right to approve or deny new accounts, as well as disable accounts is a specific moderation task. It should not require a full risky upgrade to the level of Admin.
Thanks for your answer.
