New user registration auto logs you in as an admin

We have created a custom role for members and edited the role through the UM settings. Users can register, and are required to activate by email. But they are not assigned to that role, and are not required to activate by email.

BUT WHEN YOU SUBMIT, YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY LOGGED IN AS AN ADMIN.

I can’t share the URL, obviously.

This is WordPress 5.9, but also happens on 5.8.3
UM version 2.3.0

The site uses a custom theme built from scratch. Also using Business Directory Plugin | GeoDirectory, if that helps, along with ACF, EventOn, Gravity Forms, Yoast, MigrateDB Pro, etc.

Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Anyone else seeing this issue? I’ve tried multiple incognito browsers and found the same problem everywhere.
