new user registration

  • I keep getting these email notification of new users (and they seem to be spam users) but when I go to the management area to check those users don’t exist.

    So what is going on? Does wordpress somehow know that these are sham users or is somethign else going on.

  • I have the same problem too, and I already had the “anyone can register” button unchecked since a long long time ago. I’ve upgraded to 2.7.1 a few weeks back, hoping that it might fix it, but I’m still getting these fake new user registration email notifications. It’s as the parent post said, the spam users aren’t even exist in the database.

    Recently I just received 2 such emails. Thought it’s comments posted by other users but it’s nothing like that. Does it mean these people can access to my blog and type whatever they want? Wonder what’s the purpose of having another user registration to my blog.
