New User notification emails sent to wrong admin's email address

  • Hello,
    I have searched for a solution but couldn’t find one that matched my case. I want to receive notifications when a new user registers. I have set Settings / General Settings / Email to the correct one but the email instead gets sent to the email address of the original admin user that set the site up.
    Are there any other settings that govern what email is used. The email comes via a hostgator server. When I delete the original user the email doesn’t get sent to that user. And it doesn’t get set to the address in the General Settings.
    Any help would be very appreciated.

  • Possibly a plugin is causing the General Settings to not be used. A quick check would be to turn off all your plugins. Just rename the plugins file located at wp-content > plugins to plugins-off. Then recheck your email.

    If the correct address is used, then track down the offending plugin.
