Please visit https://www.bigworldstudio.com to see the problem. Under Construction pages would not go away so web host had me copy index.php into the root public folder. The partial post that now appears is mine, but no theme (not even the default), no widget content, nothing works. A click on the post slug goes to an empty page.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I just got my hand slapped for also posting this question (with more information) in the installation forum. Since no one responded to my initial question I thought maybe I had posted it in the wrong section. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

That’s your feed that’s showing up.

What the heck did your host do that would cause that?

Is your blog in a sub directory or in the root?

If in a subdirectory, perhaps start by getting rid of that index.php in the root folder. If you see any default or index html files, kill them too.

I installed WordPress in my root folder because I want to use it for the entire site – not just a sub domain. When the site wasn’t showing up, the host service tech suggested that I move the index.php file out of the wordpress folder (not sure which one it came from)into the root folder.

At this point, I’m wondering if there’s a way to start over. If there’s a way to start fresh, it might be easier than trying to fix it.

I don’t know php language, but this might be helpful in troubleshooting. Here is the code from the index.php in the root folder:

[Moderated: Too much code. Please consider placing the code in a text file on your site with a link here -or- use a pastebin service such as https://wordpress.pastebin.ca. Thanks!]

If you have a WordPress folder, you didn’t install it in the root.

However, in visiting your site, looks like you got it sorted now.

In case anyone finds this thread and has a similar problem, my solution was to uninstall and reinstall WordPress. I believe I was overzealous in deleting files from the root folder trying to get rid of the “Under Construction” page. With a bit more patience and a re-install, the problem was fixed.

Thanks HandySolo for trying to help.
