New user emails sent from "WordPress"

I deactivated those 2 plugins and still have the same problem.

Does your theme have an option for this?

Subscribe2 has an “Send Email From:” selection under Notification Settings on the Scribe2 settings screen.

Not that I’m aware of. I wouldn’t expect a theme to have anything to do with how users are handled.

Okay, I just tested this with another web site and different theme. The same thing happens so it looks like either I am doing something on all WP installations to cause this or this is normal behavior.

If it’s normal, then what’s the point of:
Settings->General->E-mail Address ?

Yes, that seems to work fine. The issue is with new user registrations.

The Settings >> General email is typically used by WordPress for emails to administrators about the site.

It is by default not displayed or used on the site but can be used by some themes and plugins.

Yes, many themes can override wp_mail

Okay, thank you both. Going to that sort of trouble is a bit much just to change the “from” address. Does anyone know of a plug-in that can do this?
