    [off topic; sorry]
I can’t find anything that I should be able to. For example, this form asked for the version of WP. I just downloaded and installed it this afternoon, but have no clue what the version is? Most programs have an “About” button that shows this. I guessed that it was 4.4.2. [end off-topic]

I started and selected a theme and tried building a simple page. Somewhere my selected theme evaporated and I’m stuck w/ 2016 I think. When I click on Change Theme, I don’t see all the original themes, just 2014 and 2015.

I must have something badly screwed up. Reading on here and elsewhere I see that I need to “start over”. The instructions say to go to my webhost’s control panel and delete my SQL database. I did. That did not seem to change anything.

I also Published before I was ready [because I didn’t know what “Publish” was going to do]. Now my old website [www.1derful.info] is redirected to my totally screwy WP page. How do I “unpublish”?

    Frustrated. Confused. Unimpressed.

Also, when I went to my web host’s control panel, I found 2 SQL databases. The original one [which I had written down in my log and a new one]. I deleted the new one. Now I get an “Error establishing a database connection” when I try to access WP. How do I get WP to use the ORIGINAL DB?

Well, that’s pretty snotty! You many not have noticed, but things have been busy around here with the 4.5 release yesterday and this place is run by volunteers. If you need an answer in real-time, you may be better off posting on the #wordpress IRC channel.

Anyhow, edit wp-config.php to point your WP site to the remaining DB.

Why would a new user, struggling to get WP started know about “the 4.5 release”? I know nothing about the “#wordpress IRC channel”. How would I?

I have pulled everything related to WP. I don’t like to deal with situations where I feel compelled to be “snotty”. I thought my little goodby note was rather restrained…
