new user cannot set password in 4.3.1 (with the new wordpress password policy)

When Clef is active, adding a new user from the wordpress admin results in the following problem:
When the user clicks on his set password link: https://site.com/wp-login.php?action=rp&key=xxxxxxxxx&login=login-name, the set password input field is hidden. Same with password reset etc.

When disabling Cleft, the password form works again.
