New to WordPress – Have an existing site

Hello,

I maintain an existing website that was created in Dreamweaver years and years ago. I would like to do something fresh and from what I see WordPress is the ticket. However, after reading the install docs I don’t want to disrupt the existing site until I’m finished creating in WordPress. My reason is that I don’t want my patrons to go to a new web address.

My question – is it difficult to create a wordpress site with a temporary https://www.example.org and then change it later to be the live site? And how would I go about doing this?
