    Hello,

I am an administrator on my friend’s WordPress, which is hosted through <bluehost.com>. When searching for new themes via the “wp-admin” dashboard site, I receive the error message, “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums,” despite there being no problems searching for plugins.

I have scoured the internet and <www.remarpro.com> forums for about an hour now, trying to figure out what to do to solve this problem, with no luck. It’s not malware as some suggest, it’s not a Windows firewall, and it’s not bluehost.com blocking anything. I’m strictly using the wp-admin dashboard and not a WordPress installation (as I am not at all versed in CSS), otherwise I would manually install some themes.

Any and all information is much appreciated, and even more so if you could “dumb it down” as much as possible for me.

    Thanks.
    -Zack

Try deactivating all your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible. If none are, with all plugins still deactivated, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen/ Fifteen theme to explore whether it could be a theme issue.

    Andrew, thanks a million!!!

I can’t believe how much I was overthinking it. It was a plugin causing the error, although I’m not sure which – I ended up deleting all but Akismet and Jetpack by WordPress.com
