I wonder if there is anyone out there who could help me to understand how to download plug ins. I am new to FTP and I am just getting in to a muddle!
I know how to download and extract but after that I am stuck.
I need a very patient person who could explain it to me
    Thank you!

  • it helps to have an easy to use FTP program like Filezilla

go to File–site manager click on New Site

You need the proper FTP info from your host but it may be something like https://ftp.yoursite.com then click the button beside normal and input your username and password that you use to get into your site.

If you want you can choose to have your password remembered. Only do this if your computer is yours and fairly secure.

    now click on connect.

You should now see your computer files as well as your site files.

Find public html or whatever the start point is for your site, click to where your blog is and look for wp-content double clicking will take you between files

under wp-content you will find a file called plugins

find the plugin file on your computer click and hold it and drag it over to the plugins file. it should now upload and you can activate from your blog plugin admin section.

here is a youtube on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjAXmtkoe_s

thank you very much I watched the video and it did help I just have a question, when you drag it over to the plug ins file, do you see the name of the plug in, on the video it looked like the dragged plug in was just placed in a space to the right of the wp-content plug in, is that how you do it?
When you say click to where my blog is, is that on the left hand side? what do you mean by “double clicking will take me between files?”
I am sorry to be so vague, but I have never done this before!

I have posted a pic tutorial on my blog for you.

aksmit here caught it as spam because of all the pic links
