(New to all this) how do I get my blog into searches?

  • Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Okay, so I have started my blog, and it’s being redirected to my domain name. I have a theme overlaid, and I have tried everything to get it to come up on google. When I type the domain address, it still is not showing. I’ve gone to the header, to the meta tags, and have tried to install a list of keywords, which I believe I’ve done correctly.

    Is there something that I’m missing here? I’m VERY in the dark with this stuff. The theme I’m using has this code:

    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=<?php bloginfo(‘charset’); ?>” />
    *
    <meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 2.0.3″ /> <!– leave this for stats –>

    Now, I would insert a line here (at *) that says:

    <meta name=”Keywords” content=”list of my keywords go here?” />

    Or, is this all wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Where did you start it if not on your domain?

    Search engines don’t care too much about your meta tags.
    CONTENT! – that’s the key issue.
    However, yes, you can inseert your meta lines there.

    Plus, how long ago did you put your site online? It can take up to 6 months for you to appear in the search engines. If you just started it yesterday, then I wouldn’t even be asking for *at least* another 2 weeks or so.

    As moshu said – content is key. But so are links – you have to have good solid links coming into your site and…well ther’s a lot of stuff that goes along with SEO. Look into Jill Whalen’s site (highrankings.com)- that’s a good place to start for SEO information.

    Moshu: I started with https://www.myblog.org/wordpress, and am having it redirected to https://www.myblog.org . My bad if that sentence wasn’t clear.

    doodlebee: yeah, it’s new. Only about a week. I thought the stuff came up fast. That’s an interesting bit of news, and thanks for the web address.
