    I was using the 2011 theme, then installed the ‘News’ theme – on activation I got this message:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_theme() in /home/pnisbet/public_html/seocontent.co/wp-content/themes/news/library/functions/utility.php on line 119

    This line appears to be:

    $theme = wp_get_theme( get_template(), get_theme_root( get_template_directory() ) );

    Now I cannot do anything – I can see my dashboard, but clicking on a link either gives me a blank screen or the same message.

    Must I carry out a complete reinstall, and will I lose my content?

    Pete

    your theme uses functions which got introduced in wp3.4.0 –

    first delete or rename the ‘news’ themes folder using ftp or the file manager of your host;
    this should get you back into the dashboard;

    then update your WordPress installation to the lates wp3.4.2

    then try again to install the new theme; either by renaming the folder back to the orignal name, or by reuploading the theme; then activate it…

    Thank you,

    Worked perfectly thanks. Fantastico on Hostgator installs the older version, so I have updated it and everything is now OK.

    Cheers,

    Pete
