I am having an issue with new subscribers who are making purchases. They select to join the mailing list in the purchase process, but (I BELIEVE) they are receiving the double-opt-in email. They complete the purchase, but not before they’ve confirmed their opt-in. So, the automations I have set up to go off as a result of the purchase get skipped – they aren’t yet a subscriber…Once they click their opt-in link, they become a subscriber, but by then, the automation is over and they didn’t get the appropriate tags for their purchase.

Can anyone tell me the default set up here? Are they in fact receiving a double-opt-in? Is there a way to skip that if they are opting in during purchase?

Or does anyone have a workaround for this issue? I rely on tags and, if they aren’t applied automatically at purchase, I have to manually apply them myself at a later point. Which obviously is not a good thing.

Can anyone provide any insight? I essentially want to make a single optin for those who are purchasing. Any ideas on how to do that?

    Hi there @chrissy-scivicque

While double opt-in is enabled, a confirmation email is sent to the customer and they are not considered subscribed until the confirmation link has been clicked. During that time their status is pending which would make them ineligible for marketing content.

    Are they in-fact receiving a double opt-in?

Our team focuses on the Mailchimp for WooCommerce development and design. All emails including the opt-in confirmation is handled by the Mailchimp delivery system. We’re here unable to see if the confirmation email landed in the customers inbox. Feel free to refer to the following guide:

Troubleshoot the Opt-in Confirmation Email: https://eepurl.com/dyimVL

Is there a way to skip that if they are opting in during purchase?

Being that DOI is enabled, there isn’t a way to skip the process once it has began the customer is in pending status. One approach to mitigate this would be to not use DOI by turning it off in the Audience setting within the Mailchimp account(This cannot be done from the plugin)

    Choose Opt-in Settings: https://eepurl.com/dyimFT

That way the customer will be able to enter the Automation Queue immediately rather than waiting to receive the confirmation.
