    Hi,

Our current Master Slider slides are loading just fine, but when I try to add new slides on both preview and the live slider I get an endless spinning wheel. And when I go back into the slide builder I see the image has disappeared to be replaced by a blank white slide.

    Our website is https://www.europeancabinets.com/

WordPress 4.4.2 running TwentyTwelve Child theme.

    Thanks

Side note @averta and @averta_support your accounts are on moderation watch.

4 weeks ago you were cautioned about not requesting admin access which was ignored and this is being reported to the plugins team.

Reply here with your understanding and your accounts may be unflagged depending on your response.

You do not need to have your plugin in the WordPress repository. You can remove it and support your users elsewhere if you choose.

@jdembowski I would be very disappointed if WordPress flagged @averta for misuse due to this particular issue. They did not request access, we offered it; they simply responded to our previous messages. I took your advice in hand and I discussed the situation with my developer, and ultimately we decided to give them access. The result, they were finally able to come through with help for us and our site is now working. I do not believe Averta was acting at all disingenuous and should not be punished for this action.

    Thanks,

    Jenn

@jennv Thank you for your input.

Plugin authors do not get a pass regardless of their good intentions and it was not solely your offer that initiated my reaction. I have access to all of the posts and this is not a new situation. In fact, their intentions are taken for granted and I do not think they have any ill will or bad motivation.

These forums need to remain a safe place for all users. That ranges from experienced users with developers (such as yourself) to someone posting for the first time here. Accessing a user’s site is a step too far.

There are many ways for an author to get information the need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them.

    • They can ask for a link to the https://pasetbin.com/ log of the user’s web server error log.
    • They can ask the user to create and post a link to their phpinfo(); output.
    • They can ask the user to install the Send System Info plugin and get the data that way.
    • They can a walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.
    • They can walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins except yours, switch to the Twenty Fifteen theme, clear their cache and cookies and try again.
    • They can ask the user for the step-by-step on how they can reproduce the problem.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get authors into real trouble in these forums.

If @averta and @averta_support want to provide support on their own site and host their plugin solely there then that’s their choice. But if they are going to remain here then they need to comply just like every other author.

@jdembowski Hi Jan, if there have been other issues, that’s something else. Thanks for your efforts!

Side note and very much off topic:

@averta I’ve archived your reply. Here’s really what I was hoping was going to be your response.

I understand. My co-workers and I will not make that request for login again under any circumstances.

Perhaps not that verbiage but something along those lines would have been appropriate.

If you want clear guidance then I suggest you read what I posted above.

The two accounts will remain under moderation watch until it is clear that you are willing to comply. I get that you are professionals but the WordPress repository isn’t your web site and these support forums need to remain safe.

As I’ve indicated before, you are not forced to have your plugin here and you do not need to provide support (also here). You can remove your plugin from this repository if you choose.

But if you are going to remain then you have to comply like every other plugin and theme author.
