We have been using WP All Import for several years, but since the last few days, we’re not being able to update our existing product data. Instead of updating data in existing matching SKUs, the plug-in creates a new product. This glitch only appears on products with variables, not for ‘simple’ products.

    We ran a test:

    1. Created a new SKU which has two variations. We used the ‘New Items’ selection on WP All Import. Product was created successfully with no issues and can be seen live here: https://www.spiffyspools.com/products/roman-shades-hardware/
    2. Then we uploaded the exact same CSV file, making only a minor change to the title/name. No change was made to SKU or any other part of the CSV. We used the “Existing Items” selection on the plug-in this time. The file ran successfully, but instead of updating the existing product (with the same SKU), the plug-in created a new product on the backend, using a second, duplicative SKU. This new product can be seen live here: https://www.spiffyspools.com/products/roman-shades-hardware-2/

    Screenshot of backend here: https://prnt.sc/ZTyLv9-koU9X

Has anyone faced this issue? As noted, this is happening only with products with variations. Not with ‘simple’ products.

    Hi @sspools,

Can you please send a screenshot showing the options in the Import Settings for this import?

Also, which versions of our plugins are you using?

    Hi @sspools,

    Thanks for the screenshots.

This is likely happening due to “Update all data” being enabled in the import settings. There’s a doc here that explains why you can’t use that with an “Existing Items” import that’s updating variable products, and what settings you should use instead: https://www.wpallimport.com/documentation/import-types/.

If you need further assistance after trying that, please contact us at https://www.wpallimport.com/support/. You’re using our Pro plugins and Pro features, which we can’t help with in this forum (it’s only for our free plugins).

Hi Trey, changing the settings did not resolve the issue, but when we tried to simulate the issue in the sandbox on the support link above, we could not replicate. This issue did not show up in the sandbox, which leads me to believe the issue lies with something on our end – not the plug-in per se.

Do you have any recommendation on how we can find what’s causing the plug in to not behave properly on our site? When it works fine on your sandbox?

    Hey @sspools,

These forums are strictly for the free versions of our plugins. It is against the forum guidelines to post about Pro (commercial) plugins. Please contact our support team at the link I provided above and they’ll be able to answer your questions.
