• Recently I had started to receive reports from visitors to my site that they are unable to register as members on my site.

I have gone through all possible settings for the site and all are set to allow new users to register, and for the life of me I cant work out why this is happening.

I have tried deactivating any and all plugins I have, I have changed my themes back to default themes but nothing seems to be working.

Can any of you offer any advice on this matter.

  • What do you see when trying to register as new user?

I tried and got nothing. Looks like this error
HTML1410: Invalid unquoted attribute value. Unquoted attribute values should not contain (“), (‘), (<), (=), or (`).
    register-wordpress, line 257 character 46

I see you’re using custom adresses for login ang registering. Are you using a plugin or did you changed the code yourself in any way?
Adding wp-login.php to your URL still works but adding wp-login.php?action=register redirects you me to the custom /register-wordpress/.
Try disabling or even removing the plugin (as described by plugin’s author) in charge of custom login url’s.

I am having a similar problem. I switched form Godaddy hosting to BluHost. Now Registration is not working. You can go to my registration page but after you complete the form, no email goes out with a password, I am not notified of a registration and my admin panel shows no registration.

    @dareng

I don’t think that’s a similar problem, it’s just that the mail() isn’t setup properly by your host.

Ah OK. Not that I don’t trust their expertise but would you have any clue where I can tell them to start trouble shooting this? Would the know automatically what I am talking about if I tell them to check sendmail() configuration?

Yes, just tell them mailing isn’t working in PHP. It’s usually php.ini settings to point to a correct mail server like:

    Postfix
    Qmail
    Exim
    Sendmail

or maybe the mail server is down.
