• Hello, I am just polishing up my new site WonderPile. I like it for the most part but would like some help with the flollowing:
    1.Error
    Line 282, column 10: syntax of attribute value does not conform to declared value
    #
    The value of an attribute contained something that is not allowed by the specified syntax for that type of attribute. For instance, the ?¢??????selected?¢?????? attribute must be either minimized as ?¢??????selected?¢?????? or spelled out in full as ?¢??????selected=”selected”?¢??????; the variant ?¢??????selected=””?¢?????? is not allowed.
    This error refers to the code that list the links under the resources heading in my side menue. I allso was able to have styled headings for each link category in my first WP site. Now the headings are the same size and font as the links and all fall under the link block.
    2. I want a wider content area and less filler on the right side of my blog. I tried a few things but I am new at this and kept on messing stuff up. If I do it right do I need to redo my header? Please bear with me this is my first CSS design and all I have is text pad & MS Paint.
    Thanks! Please send help!

  • Your site is coming along just fine! These little frustrations will ultimately help you learn more about CSS and (X)HTML. I have found that usually fixing one thing listed in the validator ( usually the first item ) often fixes a lot of other errors.

    In WordPress 1.2 the link category headings are all

    • tags with an id of the category heading itself. So you would see something like this for a link category “Daily Reads”:
      ...<li id="daily-reads">Daily Reads

    ...
    Note that spaces in the category name are converted to dashes and it’s all lowercase.
    You can style the heading with CSS like:
    #daily-reads { color:bitter-pink; }
    You’ll have to do this in your style sheet for each heading, though.
    Unfortunately, your site is currently experiencing some error in displaying these links, or I’d run it through the validator myself.
