I love UpDraftPlus and have used it successfully on 5 of my sites – now I’m starting a new site and everything is set the same as the others – even backing it to the same place as the others.

The test FTP settings shows all is ok – but when I try to do a manual backup I get “Unexpected response: Security check” and it won’t work. Plus “updraft_send_command: error: UpdraftPlus: could not parse the JSON (502)”.

The folder I’m using to backup to has the same permissions and the ones that are succesful.

Cant find any setting errors – where do I look for fixing the issue.

    TIA

    Hi,

The usual cause of the error you are getting is a timeout in PHP-FPM. Can you consult your web hosting company to check if that is the case, and what they suggest? (What is the timeout? The default is 60 seconds in PHP-FPM; so the server would have to be hugely overloaded for that… so I suspect there is more to it, but the server admin is the person with the access to find out).

    Regards,

Thanks for the response – my website is hosted for free with a friend who is not that technically smart, so I’ll need to follow this through to either do it myself or tell him how to do it.

I Googled “timeout in PHP-FPM” so now have a lot of information to go through but think I can get a handle on it and fix it.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of what the issue could be.
