New server, same everything else

  • I have just managed to backup my old blog to a new domain. Everything went smooth. Although I can login to the wp-admin dashboard and it’s working fine but I couldn’t see the website. Since this is the first time I have migrated a WordPress blog to a new domain; I have no idea what I did wrong.

    Are you logging in to the dashboard using the domain.com/wp-admin, or are you using a temporary URL (via an IP address)? Depending on how recently you purchased the domain, the DNS may not have propagated yet. Sometimes it can take more than 24 hours to fully propagate.

    How long ago did you register the domain, and did you register it through the same company that your site will be hosted on? If you bought the domain separately, it has to be pointed to your host’s nameservers.
