I saw the new Postmatic prices are rolled out (the $9/mo offer was absent from my dashboard and the splash screen going to the ‘get premium page’ resulted in a 404).

$95 a month is pretty hefty a price for a daily blogger on a personal blog. How could one get by on the $20 plan just for comments? Would it mean deactivating the post->email feature?

If we deactivate the post->email feature, is it unlimited comment handling up to 10K subscribers?

I want to understand how it works. It may be that it’s quite out of my budget afterall. If I thought it might jump from $9 to $95, perhaps I would have not bothered trying it. Great features by the way. Totally worth it for profit bloggers and businesses. If I had such a budget or if my blog intended to make money it might make more sense.

    Hey HaloPinay,

We are still in the process of rolling out Postmatic 2 – sorry about the 404.

The version of Postmatic which is here in the WordPress repo is free for unlimited use.

Postmatic 2 will be released later today (I hope!!!) here on the repo and may come with a feature set which is a perfect fit for your site – even on the free plan. Stay tuned.

    Best,
    Jason

I saw an update roll out. I haven’t upgraded yet. To note, I thought $10/mo was reasonable for a personal blog or a start up blog not making money yet. I was totally willing to pay it and planned on upgrading when I was done designing the site (didn’t make sense to pay while my site wasn’t live.) Prices of things add up though. When we consider how many plugins have subscriptions and fees for premium features, the cost of a small starting blog can be upwards of $100 a month while making no profit. Blogs typically don’t make that much in adsense either. When you add the cost of a host, cdn, spam, security, ssl etc. It gets very expensive for a blog that is not even making money. I would hope to one day monetize, but no way is that going to be profitable for a long time. We must build a subscriber base. Think that only 2% of members invest in a blog. So for 1000 members (which is VERY hard to get), only 10 will make a donation or buy something. Affiliate commissions and google don’t pay a lot of money. Not everyone is monetizing content. That can be very annoying for users. So such decisions become very hard. Just giving some feedback. Thanks for responding.

    Hey HaloPinay,

Thank you for your feedback on this. It means a lot to know how our new model is being received.

With the release of Postmatic 2 we have aimed to make the free plan be exactly what a blogger of your size needs. It has all of the tools to grow your list, send posts, increase comments, and build a community. A key feature of Postmatic Basic is that you can pair it up with something like SendGrid to send all the mail you want. We’ll still process your incoming replies for you. Promise.

By the time your community is of a size that you can monetize it we have paid plans starting at $20/month to take it to the next level.

Keep in touch – we will have alternative models in place in the next month or so to help offset costs.

    Best,
    Jason

Thanks. I’ve been looking into it. I think you guys should have a startup package for brand new blogs or blogs in niches that publish a lot but can’t be monetized like pro-blogger blogs. Something for people with less than 1K, 5K or less subscribers for instance. Will keep watch for future models and promotions.
