New post permalink slug redirects to other posts

Trash was empty. I clicked empty trash anyway and no results. Thank you for the quick reply.

This issue is getting spreading and more and more permalinks are now forwarding to incorrect pages, are getting stuck in infinite loops, or are just becoming inaccessible. Is there a good way to reset all permalinks and start over? Do I need to do a complete reinstall?

Are you using any custom post types and/or taxonomies with the same slug?

I do have eShop installed, but not in use on the posts in question. Just standard posts. The fastest way to replicate is to create a new post with the default slug and publish. Then modify the slug and update. Then modify the slug back to the original default.

I had an issue changing slugs of taxonomies and it messing things up. Its always a good idea when changing slugs to load the permalinks page in settings and then save it to refresh the structure.

Does it do the same thing if you use letters instead of numbers at the end e.g. post-nameA or were you just using that as an example

That was an example. There are no numbers in the slugs, just one short (one word) product name. My actual permalink structure is /%category%/%postname%

Ah that might be the problem, WP is getting confused.
