New Post Notification by Category

Hi can you tell me if it is possible to pick a specific notification based on the category of a news item.

Our website runs both a parish council and a local church. When we have news about the parish council, we want the notification to come from the council but if it is about the church then we want it to come from the church

I can see that I can set up separate notifications, but then I need to manually disable the incorrect notification to stop it being sent out twice. I can remember to do this – but my other admins ????

Would the upgrade solve this problem?
