New Post and Edit Post Are Not Working Properly

  • It just developed on my WordPress admin area today. As I either post new or try to edit an old post, the admin area neither lets me make new categories, nor add tags, nor edit my URL of the post, though it does preview and publish the post!

    I have been using the WordPress platform for more than 4 years now, but such a thing never happened in the past.

    Any clues, anyone?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing your available memory?

    Thank you esmi, re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress did the job.

    But guess what, I had to do it on all my 16 blogs!

    And now I am curious to know what might have caused the problem in the very first place???

    Have you checked your pages for any signs of hacking?

    How do I do that?

    You would need to examine your pages’ source code for signs of any “odd” links – ones that you know you haven’t added. Sometimes, a misbehaving Dashboard can be the first sign of a hack. Other times, it’s simply that one or 2 files have been corrupted on the server – something that does happen from time to time.

    No esmi, I couldn’t fnd any signs of hacking like my pages getting distorted by “adding” or “deleting” anything.

    But why does it happen from time to time?
