New plugin — testers needed
-
Hey guys, I made one plugin and need some feedback. It’s (current) name is Gravatar Signup Encouragement. I got inspiration to write it after reading comments on post “Why Is Gravatar Still Not Mainstream?”, especially one that mentioned in that time dysfunctional Gravatar Signup. I wrote comment there with link to download page (now old version) but that comment never appeared. Meanwhile Gravatar Signup got updated and new Gravatar Box is released but this is a little different approach to signup on Gravatar.
Idea is this: when user fills comment form, we check through Gravatar’s API if there is avatar for that e-mail address; if there isn’t, we show him message that he doesn’t have avatar on Gravatar and that he can make one, with link to signup page on gravatar.com prefilled with his e-mail address. Here is major (visible) difference between this plugin and Gravatar Signup or Gravatar Box: it shows different kind of message . The other difference is that this plugin is much more lighter since it requires only jQuery to be loaded on page, while those two plugins also need two additional javascript files.
Please test this plugin on your WordPress’ installation and tell me what you think. Configuration is done on existing page in administration, Options/Discussion. It adds one field in wp_optins table which is deleted if you remove plugin via WordPress’ built in option to delete plugin, so it won’t leave traces if you don’t want to use it after tests.
What is verry important to me is giving feedback on text used in plugin, including name of plugin. I am not native English speaker, so text is maybe not so good.
Thanks in advance.
