New plugin stats

  • Hi,

    I recently uploaded a new plugin to the directory and have a couple of questions regarding the download stats that I’m seeing:

    1. Does an incomplete download register as a download? (for instance if someone clicked the download button but did not proceed or aborted the process in the middle)

    2. Can i link directly to the plugin URL on wordpress (vs. linking to my plugin description page on wordpress) – will that be counted as part of the stats displayed?

    The download stats aren’t really complete downloads… they’re more of a “click counter” type of thing. I’ve long wondered why they don’t measure this by how many people actually have it installed rather than how many people click on the download link.

    and yes, you can link directly to the file on WP.org and it will still count towards your stats.
