  • It didn’t take long, but here’s version 1.6.

It’s really has any additional functionality only if you’re on an American research station in Antarctica. I’ve created three custom maps using a polar projection for all three US research bases. The plugin looks for a specific lattiude that won’t be used for anything else, and just uses one of the prebuilt maps.
It would be very easy to modify this for any location where you wanted a very detailed map, as long as you have the map ready to go.
For an example, see the below post:
    https://www.theglobalguy.com/antarctica-2004/salad-bar/

One other thing…it should be very easy to add other areas for dynamic calculation, as long as you can provide a map of the area in Rectilinear Projection. I’m going to see if I can’t add the USA, followed by Europe soon.

Anyone who’s downloaded 1.6 and 1.5 need to upgrade to 1.61. 1.5 and 1.6 both have a bug that misplaces locations that are between 14 and 41 degrees longitude due to a typo. 1.6 has a bug that always generates a map of the south pole due to my not understanding the difference between the = and == operators. Both are now fixed in 1.61 which can be found at:
    https://www.henrymalmgren.com/location-1.61.zip

look like it give me a 404 error for me.

Try it now…I had it in the wrong directory.

Another new version…this one is still beta, but it works great so far.
I’ve come up with a more elegant solution to having smaller more detailed maps. Instead of having six sub-maps that really kinda had edges in akward locations, the plugin now automatically creates a detailed map of any location with the location of the post in the center. You can configure how large the detailed map is by changing one parameter in a configuration file.
It’s still beta because I haven’t put in error checking logic to take care of the case when the selected geographical location is near the border of the map. That’ll be coming soon, but for now as long as you’re not near the borders of the map, it works great. You can see an example of this version here:
    https://www.theglobalguy.com/africa/kenya/
The plugin can be downloaded here:
    https://www.henrymalmgren.com/location-1.8b.zip

BTW, has anyone seen any maps with that look like the one provided with the plugin, but with political boundaries overlaid? I’d appreciate it if you could point me to one!

Still the wrong directory i guess, i still get a 404 error.

Ok, it’s fixed now. I’d left out a dash in the filename. I’m blaming it on lack of oxygen and sunlight.

    Hi!
It seems I have done something wrong at the post.php.
    https://biketraveler.bi.funpic.de/russland/images/screenshot.jpg
When I fill out the location and country I can request the geoUrl Infos, but when I click on save(speichern) it doesn’t saves the two entries. I have to add them extra with the CustomFields.
Have I placed the two fields at a wrong place or is there a save button missing or do I have to change something else?
