New plugin: GigPress

    GigPress is a WordPress plugin built specifically for touring bands. As a website developer who was often building websites for independent bands — and always using WordPress as CMS of choice — I was constantly frustrated by the lack of a simple, viable method of incorporating live shows and tours into these websites. So I figured I’d brush up on some PHP and build my own.

    Features

    GigPress incorporates all the common requests you might have for a plugin of its ilk, including:

    • Ability to list both upcoming shows and past shows, chronologically rolled-over as tour dates pass
    • Grouping of shows into nameable tours
    • hCalendar-rigged
    • Auto-linking to Google Maps for venues with a street address
    • Fields for venue and ticket-buy URLs, age restrictions, ticket price, and notes
    • Built-in functions to display upcoming shows, past shows, and a sidebar listing
    • Widget support
    • Outputs XHTML-compliant, semantic markup

    That’s great!!

    But actually i think you should find a way to create a single page for every event, with its own title, keyword etc.. otherwise will be really difficult to find them with google ??

    Thanks for a great plugin. One question/feature that would make it even better, would be the ability to have tours on seperate pages. For example you could click on “Tour A” and it would only show the shows for that specific tour.

    Just downloaded and installed the plugin… works great on WP2.1, even though it was only tested with 2.3. This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much.

    One small problem, and I suppose it could be a 2.1 problem, is that My past shows don’t seem to be working. I have about a dozen past shows that I can see in the gigpress admin panel, but they don’t show up when I put [gigpress_archive] into the page. Any ideas?

    Also, choosing your own default country would be nice. So I don’t have to keep choosing ‘Canada’ from the drop-down list every time I create a new event.

    All in all, a great plugin. Keep up the good work!
