• Hey guys, I’ve just completed (?) my first plugin: an AJAX shoutbox, which enables users to chat without refreshing the page. I’ve got a working example at https://blog.jalenack.com

Now, I’m looking for alpha (beta?) testers to help me debug and give suggestions. I’ve already tested it on my blog and a fresh kubrick install.

    Download the .zip here:
    https://blog.jalenack.com/wordspew.zip

I’ve included a readme.txt with complete installation instructions. When I move this out of beta, I’ll probably be posting an entry on my blog about it, but for now I’d just like to show it to people adventurous enough for beta plugins. I eventually hope to submit this to the WordPress Plugins competition, so I’m eager to hear any suggestions/improvements you have, both code and concept.

    Thanks! -Andrew

  • I am currently running bad behavior. Do you know how/why that weird spam thing is happening? I’m all for adding protection if you can and thanks for a really nice plugin.

    Nice plugin. Thanks

    Alright,

So I have the plugin installed, took about 5 seconds, not a problem. You can see it at my hacked up site,

    https://globedrifter.net

Here is the issue, I am using a background image for my sidebar boxes and by setting it to white distroys the background styling. Obviously a easy fix, just thought I would mention it, maybe a transparent option, or something like that.

    At anyrate, GREAT work!

    jalenacckk fix the spam !!

    ??

Great plugin, easy to use, nice job and thanks.

plugin doesn’t work with wordpress 2.0 when a user is logged in, and is giving me a whole ton if server_log errors.

Any idea about how to make a popup Shoutbox?

Plugin looks great. i’m using WP 2.

User reports a “Fatal error 653” each time he “sends”. Any obvious cause known for that?

Also, is there any way to send a audible alert when new users sign on? This would be handy for blogs designed for small user groups (I agree it would be irritating for busy sites).

    Thanks

I love the plugin except for the spam! how about something like a botcheck for future versions?

I tried the plugin and got spam even with the bad behavior plugin.. I’m using shoutmix now..

shoutmix.com try it. It’s pretty good, and flexible

is it possible to configure all the info (exact time, IP, etc) off shoutmix? Because it’s so clogged it’s hard to read.

Hi All, i suggest that you have a try on the latest version of the shoutbox on my blog https://pierre.sudarovich.free.fr because i add some stuff to fight spammers and i think that it will be really harder for them to bypass all the filters. Amicably,

    Pierre
