There is now a lightweight edition of the popular AdvancedSearch plugin: AdvancedSearch Lite.

It is designed as a drop-in replacement for the legacy WordPress search; also featuring a neat sidebar searchform and multi-color search term highlighting.

  • It only seems to work if you search for two words. One word searches produce “Sorry, but no posts matched your criteria.”

It worked fine for me with single-word search terms. I’m on FF 2.0.0.2 on OS X, although that probably doesn’t matter!

webDressing: It might be that when you entered only one word, you have searched for a very common word in the English language.

Elsewise, please give me a link to your website, and tell me for which words you have searched.

Well give it another try later tonight. We just started to build the blog so there aren’t many words on it to search for ??

What we’d really like to do is to create a new page called ‘Search Engine’. We’d remove the standard search engine block from the blog index page. Then when someone would click on the Search Engine link it would send them to a separate page with the Search Engine functions displayed on it. It would be like an ‘About’ page, only it would be dedicated to the Search Engine. Our only problem is we don’t know how to post the search engine on a separate (instead of the sidebar) page. Any instructions?

Sure, no problem. That’s exactly what the “original” AdvancedSearch is for. ??

    e.g.
    https://www.zirona.com/erweiterte-suche (basic style)
    https://www.bballcity.com/search/ (heavily styled)

Yep that’s the ticket ?? So what code do we need to use to have it displayed that way, and where should we place the code?

You might have a look at the description page, especially the installation instructions. This should answer most questions. If you then still have a specific problem, I’ll be glad to help.

If I recall correctly then it only mentions how to install in the sidebar…

No, the AdvancedSearch (not Lite) has nothing to do with the sidebar. Please have a look at https://www.zirona.com/software/wordpress-advanced-search.

Ahh… I thought there was only a lite version :p

So basically anywhere you put <!–advancedsearch–> the search engine will appear?

    In fact, yes.
But I’d recommend a dedicated page for it. ??

    Hi Alex !

Again, congratulation for your plugin AdvancedSearch Lite. It offers a real progress to wp weblog interface and it works pretty well, but…

I noticed that the search with ” (double quote) to search the exact phrase does not return anything and a \ comes in the search area.

I first thought that my configuration was not good, but I tried on your website https://www.zirona.com/ and the same bug appear.

Do you know this problem ?
