new page template now does not accept main body HTML

I created a new page template and loaded it as a test page. However, it appears I have stripped out too much code because now I can not add anything via the admin panel in HTML, in other words I can not place text on my page. I retained the header, sidebar, and footer and this: <?php wp_link_pages(array(‘before’ => ‘<p>Pages: ‘, ‘after’ => ‘</p>’, ‘next_or_number’ => ‘number’)); ?>

Which code must I add back in?
