I have a Nextgen gallery on my homepage which is called new-home. Today I have added a couple of new images to the gallery and something really weird has happened. A new page has been created on my website called new-home.

How and why has this happened and can I just delete the page?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @mikes46,

While creating a gallery, you can create a new page and include a default NextGEN Gallery shortcode to that page. Of course, that needs to be done manually, but maybe you click on “Create Page” without noticing?

Please, feel free to check this link to our documentation explaining how the link to page works: https://www.imagely.com/docs/link-gallery-album-page/

If you noticed the screenshot on step two, you would be able to see the area used to create a new page bellow “Link to page”

Please, try to create a new testing gallery and check if the page is created by default.
Let us know how it goes.

    Hi @gabyimagely
    Thanks for the reply.
On checking the ‘link to page’ in the settings, this page name was there but this gallery was not a new gallery, all I did was added 2 images to it and rearranged the order of them within the gallery. I did not go anywhere near the settings drop down menu. I have changed the ‘link to page’ back to ‘not linked’ and deleted the page and now all seems back to normal. I can see what happened now but don’t understand why it happened this time.

Honestly, we aren’t sure either. Perhaps it always was linked to this page and you didn’t have noticed it?

that page didnt even exist until i added a new image yesterday

Hmmm, sounds weird to me and I am unsure that I have the answer. NextGen shouldn’t normally automatically generate “real” pages for its galleries. I couldn’t replicate the same behavior on my testing instances.

Can you please let us know if this happened before to any other gallery of yours or you are being able to replicate it with any other gallery if adding a couple of new images to any “un-linked to page gallery”?

No. Has not happened on any other gallery and can’t replicate it.

Well, that was what I have assumed. As for this gallery, if you are removing its page ( removing it even from Bin ) and then adding a new image to it, does this regenerates the page again?

No cant even get it to do it again on this gallery.

Well, than, if you wouldn’t mind we will mark this thread as “resolved” please feel free to submit a new thread should you ever be able to replicate this problem again.
