    Hi there,

We have a site developed in WooCommerce, using the PayPal Standard payment gateway. The issue we are running into is the New Order email gets sent to us immediately when a user clicks on the ‘Proceed to Paypal’ button at checkout instead of sending after they have processed the payment in PayPal. In the notification email we receive for the new order, it looks like payment has been received, even though it may not be yet. Is there a workaround for the email notification to only send once payment has gone through using PayPal Standard?

    Thanks!

    Hey there!

The order is placed once the customer goes to pay at PayPal, as it is for every offsite payment gateway, so it’s not really possible to change that without modifying how it works at the core of it all.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks, Andrew! So we’d need to upgrade from PayPal Standard to a more seamless version of PayPal in order for the New Order notification emails to come through only once the purchase has been made? Appreciate your help!

    Hi,

If you need a PayPal plugin that lets you pay directly on your site, I recommend PayPal Powered by Braintree (https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-gateway-paypal-powered-by-braintree)

    Thanks!
