• i just finished installing wordpress on my computer. i used Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0 tell me if this is ok

    then i found out it was 3.0 not 3.0.1 and and ask me to please update now should i

    it gave me 2 choices auto or manual… is there a advantage to one or the other

    it is asking me for host name…would that be localhost

  • On a local install – especially one that appears to be asking for FTP host name etc – a manual upgrade should be easy enough to do.

    If using ‘localhost’ as your host name doesn’t work (and it may not, depending on how your local webserver is set up) then you’ll need to do the manual install.

    You don’t need to ftp on your local computer. Just download the files and copy them over.

    Ok i downloaded wordpress into a zip file and were do i go from there

    Unzip the zip and copy the files over the ones you have in your local install.

    I have zero experience with the MS web installer thingy ( don’t even know what it is). You may need to google how it works and where it installs things for more help.

    ipstenu is correct. You upgrade the site just as you would normally for any WordPress instance.
