• I’m having problems publishing the home page of a new site.

The build was a one-click install through fasthosts but I’m still seeing a message about uploading files using FTP.
    e.g. https://www.30december2013.com/

I’m able to publish other pages for the site –
    e.g. https://www.30december2013.com/accommodation/

Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong here?

I have a theme installed where the home page template should be different to the other pages. However I’m not sure whether this is the the issue or whether it is a problem with the install.

    Thanks

Do you have anywhere at the root level a index.html or some default.html or whatsoever file (anything like index or default which is not the index.php from wordpress)? If yes, try deleting it or renaming it, so that the WP index.php can work.

I can see there are two index.php files in my wordpress folder – though they are in different locations within the wp-content file.

Would this still count as being at the root level?

There is no other default / index type file closer to the route.

    Thanks!

I can see there are two index.php files in my wordpress folder

In the root directory of WP installation, or in the current theme’s directory?

If in the two in the same directory, how there can be two in two same time?
