“New” Icon for Category List

  • This has been asked before, but there hasn’t been a plugin created as of yet that I can find. What I’d like to do is have a “new” icon in my category list for categories with new posts since the user’s last visit.

    The blogger at https://www.village-idiot.org/ has exactly what I’m talking about on their blog, but it’s a core hack they say and – rightly so – does not want to release it.

    Anyone out there know of any code or plugins that exist – or – I’d be willing to donate to anyone that could come up with such a plugin.

  • donate? how much? have you looked at modifying alex king’s ‘since last visit’ plugin? Ive mentioned before that that _probably_ can be modified to do something similar.

    *cough* To bad she couldn’t whip up a .diff for the WP 2.1 lmao.. JK.

    I pretty much know how much work she put into this hack of her’s… She shouldn’t have to give it out freely(not saying you were asking for it freely though).

    Besides, if I remember right, she said there was TONS of file editing, database adjustments/tweaking.. and whatever else to get this working like she wanted…?

    I’d say, donating would at least maybe get you some where with getting her setup, but, I’m not sure though.. She put a lot into this one, so.. ?? ??

    I don’t doubt that it took alot of time to put it in place. I know exactly how long it takes to hack these things to your liking. Unfortunately I haven’t the time nor the energy to try to hack it myself, and I’d love to have a plugin solution much more, anyway.

    As far as a donation, whatever you think would be fair. I don’t mind agreeing on an amount ahead of time. It would just depend on how long it would take you, obviously.

    I too would love to have an icon next to new posts.

    Well, thats not even what the OP described, and thats not whats on my site.

    THAT is covered by Alex’s plugin.
