    Hello,
I am not real familiar with html or wordpress.

I am not sure how to connect all of the different items that are on the old hosting site. The old site has issues and is not current on all of the updates for all of the plug-ins and wordpress.

I did get the html of what the current site looks like.

I was wondering if there is a way to take the html from the old hosting site and paste into the new hosting site.

If not, is there a way to know how to go through the html to correctly add and replace all of the items that are in the current website?

Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Well.. most of the webhosts provide FTP log-ins….So, log in using that FP info and Download all the files from your “public_html” folder…

log into the new host’s FTP account and upload the contents u just downloaded from older account.

Should fix it. I’m assuming that u are not using WordPress…. because u said u wanted to transfer HTML files, so I take it that u don’t have any kind of BLOG or something like that running…

I am using WordPress. I am having issues with the dashboard when I copy that entire folder over. The right side of the dashboard shows blank.

Also, I have changed the userid and password on the new hosting site.
Where would I need to change in files?

I will copy over. If I have any issues, I will let you know.

    Thanks for your input!!

I copied the entire public_html folder over and now I am getting the following error … Unable to read the WordPress configuration file.

WordPress will not work with regular HTML files like that.

It will be easier for someone to help if you post actual site URL’s.

    it is bptexas.com

That’s the old site or new? I’m not totally clear on what you are trying to do.

I do have a backup before I did this. It is an XML file. How do I restore using it?

yea.. the plugin was DUPLICATOR…. it backs up your wordpress site and you can transfer it from one host to other… try it…

I did find the back tool for both the MySQL database as well as the Home Directory.

It created a tar and a sql file.

For using the DUPLICATOR, you need to be able to see the dashboard on the original site, correct? It is totally messed up. So, I won’t be able to use that. Thanks though, for future reference.

you gotta install WP on the new server first… and then use it….err.. I’ll see if I come up with something…

That is both the new and the old site url. You will be seeing the original site since I haven’t changed over the ip address to it to the new site.

okay … since i totally messed up the new site wordpress, i am going to remove and start fresh.

Once I have a new wordpress, let me know how to import the MySQL database and the old site information into the new site.

I now have a refresh of WordPress on the new hosting site.
How do I get all of my information over from the original hosting site?
