New functionality with updating gallery images?

    Hey Opa,

    Was just doing an import into a photo gallery and noticed a new(?) behavior.

    Example Situation – I have Gallery A with 50 photos. I then upload to GALLERY A a new series of 50 photos (same names) to UPDATE/override the old photos and at the same time add to the series of photos with 35 NEW photos.

    Previous behavior This would just work. Old photos updated and new photos imported.

    Current behavior 50 OLD photos are updated and I get “Warning 1” for the other photos. The NEW photos are NOT imported. I have to wait till the process is done and then import those as a batch separately.

    Not complaining but is this the expected behavior now? Curious since the old way worked as I expected it would.

    Hey Opa – just want to add that the importing updating in general seems borked. I went and did a full checked and what I THOUGHT was happening (updates) was actually not happening despite the messages saying ‘successful’. It looks like it’s saying it’s updating but the images are not being updated.

    I was able to update the photos manually from inside the gallery itself and through the individual image but the mass import and update is not seemingly working at the moment.

    That was a bug. I changed the filesystem calls to use more wp wrappers – as the wp boys want me to do – and i had to add the overwrite (if file already exists) switch.

    This pre-release contains the fix:

    PLease test it before i release it.

    The changelog for this version so far is:

    * New settings: you can select ‘new style’ for the slideshow navigation symbols in Settings -> Slideshow -> I -> Items 23 and 24
    * The initial display at the center of the slide that is initially not running was the wrong icon (pause). Fixed.
    * One could not activate schedule date on the album admin page. Fixed.
    * New maintenance procedure: Advanced settings -> Maintenance -> III One time conversions -> Item 7: Convert db field specs.
    Run this when you have persistent problems with the wppa db tables like the inability to add new columns.
    This proc makes the data type field sizes smaller, but large enough for normal usage. e.g. Max length for a photo name: 255 chars instead of 64k chars etc.
    * Fixed possibly incorrect error display in case of some causes of failed frontend uploads.
    * Import with the update existing switch on did not update existing items. Fixed.

    OPA! Thank you!

    I did a test of the update/add ability and it seems to be working as previously now.

    I was able to take an existing gallery and in one upload – update existing photos and ADD new photos as I expected.

    Looks good so far and I’ll keep you posted if anything new develops THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
