• I have released version 0.1b of my flickr-post plugin. Inspired by Ramon Darrow’s flickr-gallery plugin, flickr-post will put your Flickr thumbnails directly into your blog without requiring any editing on your part. Once the plugin is set up, all you have to do(*) is tag the appropriate photos with the slug of the post: the plugin will do the rest.

I have also added a ‘recent photos’ function that can be added to page templates and such. This function, when called from within a PHP tag, will display the most recent N thumbnails from your Flickr photo stream.

This is my first plugin release so be gentle with me ??

Also, flickr-post works with another plugin I have released called url-cache. This plugin is really a utility for other plugins to use. Given a URL, it will download and cache the file it points to and return a local URL pointing to the cached copy. Flickr-post uses it to cache thumbnails so that your blog will still display even if the Flickr site goes down. That is the theory anyway…

(*) Actually you have to lose the hyphens in the post slug and then prefix the letters ‘wp’ so, for a photo to appear in ‘my-first-post’ it would have to be tagged with ‘wpmyfirstpost’.
