New files

    Hello. I have a local version of my site, and I keep the files in-sync with my live version using Git. Both sites have your plugin installed–version 9.7. But I awoke this morning to find several new files added to my live site, but not my local site. See below for the full list of files. Did your plugin automatically download these files to my live site? If so, why did the same not occur for my local site?

    My ultimate goal in this process is to have the same files on both my local and live site.

    Hello. Has anyone had a chance to look into this yet? I just want to know if the plugin automatically downloaded these files to my live site. If so, why did the same not occur for my local site?

    When you say in-sync, do you mean you have connected it to the Yoast SEO plugin via our GitHub repository here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo.

    So each time we update our plugin (or add files to it) it is expected to automatically update the plugin on your site https://samuiinktattoo.com/?

    Is that what you are expecting to happen when you say “in-sync”?

    With your local site, is it also kept in-sync with our GitHub repository? We ask as it is not clear if that site is also connected.

    Sorry, I shouldn’t have mentioned my local site, or Git, at all–it just confused things.
    Pretend I never mentioned those. My actual issue is: I woke up today and found new files in my Yoast plugin directory. I wanted to know if your plugin automatically downloaded those files without notice.

    Hi,

    It is not expected that Yoast would automatically add files to your site unless the plugin was updated.

    We do know some host providers automatically update plugins on behalf of their users. It could be the host provider had an incomplete update. You may wish to verify with them that this or is not the case.

    Also, if your site was somehow synched with our GitHub repository it may have originated from that. We are not, but you may wish to review this.

    However, we will also pass this along to get a confirmation that we did or did not push those specific files out. You can expect a response in this thread regarding that question.

    This is probably what occurred. My hosting company–SiteGround–implemented WordPress auto-updates without notifying me. So when the auto-update fired, it updated your plugin and added new plugin files. When I found out, I asked SiteGround to roll back the updates. But I think the roll back was not 100% sufficient, and it left some of your new files.

    No, that was never the case. I have a local version of this same website. The local version and online version are kept in-sync via my own GitHub repo. But that’s not at all relevant here.

    I don’t think that’s necessary at this point. I think I have enough to re-direct blame to my hosting company ?? Plus, I can resolve the issue on my own. We can consider this resolved.
