I have just tested it and really like this plugin! A couple of features would help me (and probably others) to make it even more useful:
1. The plugin (optionally) should randomly select the images, so that we do not always get the same image by using the same keywords.
2. Optionally, we should be able to provide keywords in the Metabox of the plugin (via and extra input-box) and by default the option to generate the featured image should be turned off in this case. This way the plugin would support this workflow I prefer:
– Admin user creates new post/page. Fills in Title, Content etc… saves the draft.
– Featured Image is not yet generated, but the proper permalink is generated (based on the title).
– Admin user turns on “Plugin enabled for this post” and provides the keywords in an input-box below.
– Updates the post so the image is grabbed from the internet.
This way it would be possible to provide different keywords that are not related to the Title which can be very limited and might contain very similar words.
Say we have a titles like:
“Winter contest 2015 results”
“Winter contest 2016 results”
An currently in such a case I get the very same image! Currently I have to change the title to get something else.
This method could be optional by letting the users decide what workflow they need in the Setting of be plugin.3. The best thing would be to be able to choose from (say) 6 random images displayed by pop-up modal before actually applying the image as a Featured Image. I know this requires a lot of development time, but it would help a lot.
